Summary
“We live in a disconnected connected world.” This statement was true even before 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic. We have hundreds, if not thousands, of “followers” or “friends” without being truly seen by anyone. In a recent study, 46% of the participants indicated that they were moderately to significantly lonely. The Loneliness Epidemic: The New Mental Health Crisis will explore the historical complexities of loneliness and isolation and how it is affecting a new generation in unprecedented ways.

Learning Objectives
Participants will:
• Analyze the historical and biblical complexities of loneliness
• Identify the mental, emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual effects of loneliness that affect clients of a licensed mental health professional
• Describe current trends that contribute to loneliness and develop a perspective of suffering so that mental and spiritual care can be implemented in their communities and client situations
