Summary
This workshop is for mental health practitioners and others who interact with adolescents and emerging adults (AEA). COVID-19, coupled with the volatile social landscape of 2020 into 2021, has clearly impacted this transitional population. Yet, even before the pandemic, there were troubling signs affecting AEA life, especially relating to anxiety, feelings of social antagonism and isolation, and increased stress. Based on the latest research, this workshop explores both the macro and micro impact on the current state of AEA development and experience. The workshop will then provide a framework of best practices that can contribute to AEA thriving despite the challenges of the current social climate.

Learning Objectives
Participants will:
• Describe the developmental and cognitive distinctives between pre-adolescence, adolescence, and emerging adulthood adolescents (AEA) in post-COVID AEA
• Identify how growing up has dramatically changed in recent years and how contemporary life and culture impact development and experience
• Identify strategies for how clinicians and helping professionals can respond to the current challenges and realities of each stage in both macro and micro applications
