The Word of God is living, powerful, and able to transform lives like nothing else. The Biblical Counseling & Spiritual Formation Division (BCSFD) exists to equip and encourage those who are passionate about bringing Christ’s changeless truth into the counseling process.

This division is for anyone who hungers for spiritual maturity and desires to see God’s Word applied meaningfully in everyday life—whether you’re a pastor, counselor, student, educator, or lay spiritual friend. BCSFD is committed to developing a biblical theology of the spiritual life and promoting effective, Scripture-centered approaches to spiritual growth and soul care.

Through community, collaboration, and shared wisdom, members are encouraged to confidently and compassionately address the real needs of people with timeless biblical truth.

Divisional Leader:
Ian Jones, Ph.D., Ph.D., is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist, as well as an Approved Supervisor in both fields. He serves as Executive Director of the BCPPC and IBCC, and directs the AACC’s Biblical Counseling and Spiritual Formation Network. His research focuses on historical pastoral care and biblical foundations for Christian counseling. An author and international presenter, he has received several honors, including the AACC Gary R. Collins Award for Academic Excellence and the Outstanding Research Professor Award at NOBTS.

 

Ron Hawkins, Ed.D., D.Min., is a Licensed Professional Counselor and currently serves on AACC’s Executive Board. With over many years of experience in mental health counseling, he was Professor of Counseling and Practical Theology in the Center for Counseling and Family Studies. He has been a pastor, author, and frequent presenter at AACC national conferences, marriage and family conferences, Christian camps and men’s retreats. Dr. Hawkins authored Strengthening Marital Intimacy and The Quick Reference Guide to Biblical Counseling with Dr. Tim Clinton.
