Description

The Healing Emotional Affective Responses to Trauma (HEART) model is an innovative approach
for trauma counseling. This framework is holistic and based on a Judeo-Christian view of the
individual?۪s need for healing the mind, body, and spirit. The HEART model incorporates an
evidence-based, three-phase approach to treatment with the addition of key phases focused on
spiritual healing. This presentation explains how to use the HEART model for Christian
counseling with victims of abuse, complex trauma, terrorism, and human trafficking. Recent
research on the utilization of the HEART model in treatment centers for victims of human

trafficking has demonstrated its effectiveness. Attendees will receive HEART Model therapeutic application materials suitable for psychologists and licensed counselors.

Presented by: Benjamin Keyes, Ed.D.

  2. Synthesize spiritual integration with psychological practices and techniques as applied to
