Presenter  

Dan Allender, Ph.D., has pioneered a unique and innovative approach to trauma and abuse therapy over the past 30 years. After receiving his Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary, he earned his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Michigan State University. Dan previously taught in the Biblical Counseling Department at Grace Theological Seminary and the M.A. in Biblical Counseling program at Colorado Christian University in Denver. In 1997, Dan and a cadre of others founded The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology to train therapists, pastors, artists, and leaders to serve more effectively in the context of the 21st century. Dan served as President of The Seattle School from 2002 to 2009. In 2011, he co-founded The Allender Center alongside Rebecca Allender and Cathy Loerzel, with the support of The Seattle School to cultivate healing and train leaders and mental health professionals to courageously engage others’ stories of harm. Dan continues to serve as a Professor of Counseling Psychology at The Seattle School. He travels and speaks extensively to present his unique perspective on sexual abuse recovery, love and forgiveness, intimacy and marriage, worship, and other related topics. Recently, Dan co-authored the book, Redeeming Heartache: How Past Suffering Reveals True Calling, with Cathy Loerzel. 

Abstract 

Tragedy and pain inevitably touch our clients’ lives in some way. They long to feel whole, but more often than not, the way they have learned to deal with their wounds pushes them away from the very restoration they need most. In this Webinar, renowned psychologist, Dr. Dan Allender, will discuss tools for mental health professionals, coaches, and ministry leaders to use with clients for a life-changing process of true connection to God and others and ultimate healing. With a clear, biblically-trustworthy method, Dr. Allender will teach you how to walk clients through a journey of profound inner transformation—from the shame and hurt of old emotional wounds to true freedom and healing. Drawn from modern research and his pioneering work at The Allender Center, Dr. Allender will help you identify clients’ core trauma in one of the three outcast archetypes—the widow, orphan, or stranger—and chart their path of growth into the God-given roles of priest, prophet, or leader.
