Marriage Webinar Equips Over 800 Christian Caregivers Around the World

Relationships matter. Across culture, ethnic and religious background, people are longing to connect at a soul level in their relationships, and especially with their spouse. That’s because God created us for relationships—with Him and one another: “Then the Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone’” (Gen. 2:18). In our fallen world, conflict, differences and selfishness threaten to destroy the intimacy He longs for us to experience, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Last night, over 800 Christian counselors, coaches and caregivers from around the world attended AACC’s CounselTalk Webinar, The 10 Commandments of Relationships: Communication, Decision Making, and Conflict Resolution. Viewers tuned in online from nearly 50 states, as well as Albania, Spain, South Africa, Guam, Ghana, Germany, England, and Canada.

The presenter for the evening, Dr. Eric Scalise, is AACC’s Vice President of Professional Development and husband of Donna Scalise for nearly 32 years. Sharing from clinical and personal experience, Dr. Scalise explored ten key principles to building healthy, satisfying and long-lasting relationships, focusing on marriage. Acknowledging that conflict and differences are inevitable, Dr. Scalise shared practical strategies for communicating and finding the “overlap,” beginning with sharing personal expectations and seeking to understand, rather than criticizing or attacking.

Viewers had the opportunity to submit their questions to Dr. Scalise in real time and receive personal feedback. The event was broadcast live from the AACC National Headquarters in Forest, VA.
